about
Hi, I’m Miranda! I’m a WGA television writer, director, and storyteller who loves creating smart, funny, heartfelt stories for television, film, and digital platforms.
These days, I work full-time writing comedic commercial treatments for some pretty incredible directors. It’s a job that brings together many of my favorite things—comedy, storytelling, collaboration, and directing—while also giving me the freedom to develop original projects of my own.
I wrote and directed the series Alliance, now streaming on Amazon Prime, and I’m continuing to write and develop projects for television. My family pilot, developed with Muse Entertainment, is currently being shopped. I was also thrilled to sell and develop a comedy pilot for Disney Channel and write for their hit series Bizaardvark.
My digital work as a writer and director has been featured by PopSugar, Seventeen, and ABC. I also wrote and starred in the Off-Off-Broadway production The Only Living Ghost, about my husband’s gender transition and childhood loss, produced by Ruth and Stephen Hendel (Fela!, American Idiot, Death of a Salesman). I’m also the author of How to Get Out of the Friend Zone, published by Chronicle Books.
I’m especially drawn to stories about LGBTQIA+ characters and families, comedy, dramedy, teens, kids, and family life. My creative influences include Greta Gerwig, Richard Linklater, Judd Apatow, and Nora Ephron.
I’m married to trans actor and musician Alex Blue Davis (Grey’s Anatomy), and together we are the parents of four children. We adopted our three daughters through foster care and recently welcomed our son through private adoption, making us a family of six. Both my marriage and my journey to motherhood have changed me profoundly—and they’ve become an enormous source of inspiration for my writing.
My work now explores the complicated, messy, hilarious, and deeply human parts of family life, including transracial parenting, transgender discrimination, foster care, adoption, and all the things that don’t necessarily sound funny—but absolutely can be.
I’m excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to keep telling stories in as many forms as possible.
